What is Chinese medicine?
Chinese medicine is a whole system of healthcare. By now you should all understand that it is thousands of years old and like many other tradtional medicines, during this time it has maintained its essence. Namely, it has maintained its diagnostic tools and theory.
In its most basic terms Chinese medicine practitioners focus their treatment around Yin and Yang. Yin and yang being the subtle qualties that exist in everything. Yin being the more fluid, cool and calm quality and yang being the more active, warm, and energetic quality. Together they make up the whole.
The philosophical understanding is that where there is disease or disharmony in the body, yin and yang are out of balance. There are a vast amount of different possibilities.
A chinese medicine practitioner will use different tools, for example; acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, lifestyle recommendations and diet therapy to bring harmony and balance back to the body.
